We spent a beautiful afternoon in Southport CT last week with photographer, Mick Hales, and our lovely Client, capturing photos of her new JWH Kitchen and Master Bath.
A project that started as a renovation unexpectedly became “new construction.” The footprint of the home provided plenty of space, but critical design details and function were lacking in the architectural plans. Jennifer Howard and the JWH Team shared their expertise in architecture and space planning to rearrange these spaces. The layout of the first floor included the Kitchen, Breakfast Room, side entry with Mudroom, Laundry, Desk Area, Walk-in Pantry and Powder Room, as well as the adjoining Family/Living Room and Dining Room. The first floor Master Suite provided a challenge to accomplish the specific storage needs and “wish list” for this Client, including the double door shower with curbless entry.
The side entry location now makes sense with a clear path to the Kitchen for carrying groceries and letting in the natural light. Careful planning of the appliances achieved the goals of a dedicated “smoothy station,” baking area with easy access to the ingredients and appliances, two clean up areas with dishwashers, and plenty of storage for collections of beautiful glass and silver. The large Island with seating on three sides is a great spot for casual meals and conversation. The details of the JWH Custom Cabinetry were a collaboration with the Client who is an accomplished Interior Designer. The fabulous light fixture over the Island, carefully selected hardware, and gorgeous marble slabs were all handpicked by the Client herself.
“I look at each project as a puzzle that needs solving. When the pieces come together, everything works. This is what makes every project fun and exciting for me,” says Jennifer Howard, owner and principal designer. To view more JWH projects visit www.jwhdesigns.com , Houzz or call 914-967-6020.
